Syed Shabbir Ahmed Shah buried at Mehrabpur

NAWABSHAH, Oct 17: Famous politician and former MNA of Nawabshah District, Syed Shabbir Ahmed Shah (61) passed away due to a heart attack at his Karachi residence, the other day.

Mr Shah became member of the National Assembly in 1970, 1980, and 1988 from the platform of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and in 1997 from the Pakistan Muslim League (PML). At present, he was senior central leader of the PML (like-minded), the president, Sugar Cane Abadgar Association, and a member of The Reformers.

Sakrand city remained closed throughout the day. Hundreds of people went to his residence in Mehrabpur to pay their respects.

Mr Shah is survived by four sons — Syed Mahmood Shah, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Syed Ghulam Ali Shah, and Syed Saadat Shah.

His funeral procession was attended by thousands and he was buried in a graveyard at Mehrabpur.

NAZIM: Shafiq Qureshi, candidate for Nazim of Union Council No4, Nawabshah city, won unofficially in the bi-election held on Wednesday. He secured 1,801 votes while Arshad Arain alias Jangi supported by the Awam Dost Panel remained second by securing 1,681 votes.

Official results were not announced till the filing of this report.
