Three more PTCL officers suspended

GUJRANWALA, July 25: Three more senior officers of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, including a divisional engineer, were suspended from service on the charge of negligence on Tuesday.

Reports said a telephone exchange of Mandi Bahauddin caught fire due to short circuit as a result of which important machinery and equipment were reduced to ashes a few days ago. The telephone numbers of a large number of subscribers went dead.

The PTCL high-ups suspended transmission divisional engineer Nasir Ahmad, assistant engineer Hafiz Muhammad Ashraf and assistant engineer (development) from service and issued them show-cause notices.

When contacted, Gujranwala Telecom Region general manager Muhammad Bashir Khokhar confirmed it and pointed out that their suspension orders had been issued to the officers concerned.

Nisar and his brother-in-law Faisal of Kot Shahan village were sleeping on the floor when a snake reportedly bit them. They were rushed to the DHQ hospital from where they were shifted to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore. However, they died a few hours later.

Amaar Masih of Dhengiranwali village was playing in the compound of house when he accidentally touched electrified pedestal fan. He died on way to hospital.
