PESHAWAR, July 25: Protest rallies and demonstrations against Israel and the United States continued in the city on Tuesday, urging Muslim countries to join hands against Israel and declare a holy war against the Jewish state.
Hundreds of Shabab-i-Milli Pakistan and Tehreek-i-Insaf activists took out separate protest rallies in the city and after passing through various roads and streets culminated in front of the Peshawar Press Club, chanting slogans against the Israeli aggression in Palestine and Lebanon.
The PTI rally was led by its provincial coordinator Iqbal Afridi and Samad Mursaleen while district president of Shabab-i-Milli Peshawar Abdul Qadar Saraf and Sher Alam headed their own activists, coming from Nishtarabad. The enraged activists of Shahbab-i-Milli also set on fire Israel’s national flag.
The protesters were holding big banners and placards inscribed with anti-Israel slogans and expressing solidarity with the people of Lebanon and Palestine.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Afridi said that the Jewish state had unleashed a wave of atrocities and aggression both in Palestine and Lebanon but the so-called champion of human rights — the US and other western world — had turned a deaf ear to it.
He said that the Muslim countries, particularly their rulers had shown their insensitivity and cowardice by adopting silence over the naked aggression and terrorism of Israel against Palestine and Lebanon.
He said that the OIC should convene its emergency meeting and not only condemn the US stand but also adopt a united stand against the Jewish state. He also strongly criticised the Musharraf government and demanded that Pakistan should withdraw all its cooperation with the US in war against terror.
The Shabab-i-Milli leaders urged Muslim states to support the Palestinian Jehadi organisations and Hezbollah in Lebanon both financially and politically against Israel aggression.
They said that Pakistan should play a leading role in uniting all the rulers of Muslim states on one platform and adopting a unanimous stand against the Jewish state.
