KARACHI, July 20: The city nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, on Thursday said that all the projects initiated in Lyari Town would be completed ahead of the stipulated time.
“We would not have launched these projects, if we had no intention of completing them”, he said in a meeting with Nazim Lyari Town Malik Fayyaz at his Water Board office on Wednesday.
Mr Kamal said that our aim was to serve the people of this city without any discrimination and the city government was working round-the-clock to solve the problems of all the city areas with particular focus on solving the problems of the Lyari Town.
He directed the KWSB Managing Director, Brig Iftikhar, who was also present in the meeting, that no other town be given connection from the COD main supplying water to Lyari and if any town had obtained connection, the same should be severed.
In this regard TMO Lyari Town and KWSB chief engineer will carry out joint line inspection.
The city nazim said that water and sewerage situation had improved in Lyari as compared to what it was six months back and there would be further improvements after the completion of ongoing uplift projects.
Meanwhile, the city nazim directed the KWSB MD to take all necessary steps to solve the problems of the consumers. He visited Consumer Centre at 9th Mile and said it should be linked with towns and UCs through IT so that complaints regarding water and sewerage received here were immediately passed on to the officials concerned and were redressed immediately.
BALDIA: The town nazim, Kamran Akhtar, on Thursday said the de-silting work of storm water drains, under the joint strategy of the town administration and water board, was almost completed in his town.
During inspection of the nullahs cleaning activities in different UCs of the town, Mr Akhtar said that preventive measures were being taken to avoid civic problems during monsoon.
He issued strict directives to all the UC nazims to remove piles of garbage from their respective union councils and also directed the DTO (sanitation) to continue sanitation work on a regular basis, adding garbage should not be seen in any part of the area.
SHAH FAISAL: The town nazim, Mohammad Imran, visited various areas and inspected the ongoing uplift works in the town.
Talking to area residents, he said that the town administration had succeeded in resolving the basic problem being faced by the citizens in a very short span of time, by completing various project of water supply, sewerage, arrangements of light on road and construction and maintenance of roads.
GULSHAN: The town nazim, Mohammad Wasay Jalil, during his visit to Sachal Goth in UC-12 and Block-F, directed the officials concerned to ensure smooth supply of water to the residents of these areas within 72 hours.
On receiving complaints that Sachal Goth having over 600 houses is facing acute water shortage, the town nazim accompanied by Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar, TMO Matanat Ali Khan and other officials visited the area and directed the officials concerned to ensure smooth water supply to the area residents as soon as possible. He also directed DTO Nisar Soomro to immediately repair the street lights. The town nazim also directed that where necessary, new street lights should also be installed.
He also ordered the DTO Solid Waste to remove garbage from various spots and carry out fumigation.--Agencies
