LAHORE, July 19: Chief Justice Haziqul Khairi of the Federal Shariat Court has directed an additional district and sessions judge to summon FIA deputy director Mushtaq Sukhera for evidence in a case of Qazf (false allegations).

The trial court is proceeding a case registered under Section 10 of the Qazf (Enforcement of Hudood) Ordinance, 1979, on the complaint of a resident of Wapda Town, Nadra Begum, who alleged that Gohar Sarfraz Qureshi, a resident of Jauhar Town, and others had raped women from a state of Central Asian Republics, who were staying with her as guests, in April 2005.

Petitioner Gohar Sarfraz submitted before the court that the case was registered against him on a false accusation at the behest of FIA deputy director who had also manipulated the investigation of Nadra Begum’s charge.

He submitted that he requested the trial court to summon the deputy director but the court has yet to adjudicate his petition. The trial court had issued a notice only to Nadra Begum whereas the propriety of the case demanded that the FIA officer should also have been called for testimony.

The petitioner submitted that the inquiry was conducted with a bias against him, as the FIA officer was involved in the institution of the rape case against him.
