Fazl, others declared POs

SAHIWAL, July 19: MMA secretary-general and opposition leader in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman, three MNAs and five other MMA leaders were declared proclaimed offenders by a local court on Wednesday.

The judge also directed the police to produce all the accused before court on Aug 22 after arresting them.

Reports said that Maulana Fazalur Rehman, MNAs Maulana Abul Khair, Maulana Gul Rehman, Liaquat Baloch, and MMA leaders Mufti Muhammad Usman, Abdul Razzaq Mujahid, Maulana Abdul Fateh, Qari Saeed Ibn Shaheed, Qari Muhammad Tahir Rashidi and 48 others were booked in two separate cases registered against them on Jan 1 and May 11, 2004, for taking out unlawful processions and violating the Amplifier Act.

The court also served notices on 36 MMA activists, including Sheikh Shahid Hamid, Iqbal Wajid, Maulana Ahmed Yar Siddiqi, Maulana Abdul Rashid, Dr Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, Asad Raza, Sajjad Nasir, Maulana Munawar Ali Khan, Tayyab Baloch and Raza Zahid Farooq, to appear before court on Aug 22.

KIDNAPPED: Two girls and a farmer were reportedly abducted in separate incidents in Sahiwal during the last 24 hours.

Accused Tariq and Zaheer took away Bashiran in a car from Katchi Basti.

Four armed men, including Eid Gul, abducted Razia from Chak 84/5-L.

Seven gunmen kidnapped farmer Bashir Ahmed over an old enmity at Chak 165-A/9-L.

Police have registered separate cases.
