PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi said here on Thursday that provincial government was utilising all available resources to eliminate terrorism and strengthen sustainable peace across the province.
Chairing a meeting to review the overall law and order situation in the province, he stated that provincial government remained committed to ensuring a secure environment for people while advancing good governance and effective public service delivery.
The meeting was attended by provincial minister for information, special assistant to chief minister on home affairs, chief secretary, additional chief secretary, police chief and other senior officials, according to a statement.
One of the participants of the meeting said that police force was fighting an invisible enemy and fighting an invisible enemy required resources, which police lacked. “Police are incapable and lack the capacity to fight the enemy which we don’t see. The enemy is invisible,” he said.

Officials briefed the chief minister on recent developments, operational measures and broader security landscape. The chief minister reaffirmed provincial government’s resolve to employ all available resources to eliminate terrorism and strengthen sustainable peace across the province.
He said that government was implementing a coordinated, comprehensive and intelligence-led strategy for lasting peace and security of people.
Mr Afridi paid rich tribute to the professionalism, dedication, and sacrifices of KP police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). He said that cowardly acts of terrorism could not undermine the resolve or morale of province’s security forces.
He said that the sacrifices rendered by police personnel in the fight against terrorism were invaluable and would never be allowed to go in vain.
Earlier, Mr Afridi visited Hangu district where he met with the families of police personnel, who embraced martyrdom in the recent terrorist attack. He offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls, the elevation of their ranks and strength and patience for the bereaved families.
He stated that the police personnel, who laid down their lives in defence of nation and for the protection of its citizens, were true national heroes whose sacrifices would forever be remembered with honour and gratitude. He assured their families that government would stand firmly by them during that difficult time.
