PIA pensioners

Published Updated

IN the latest budget, the government has increased pensions of almost everyone working with the government. However, a small segment of pensioners belonging to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has again been denied any such relief. The new PIA management has often expressed its resolve to raise the national airline’s status to the level of its golden days.

I wish to remind the management that the present lot of pensioners are the same workers who had worked dedicatedly to achieve that lofty status in the aviation world. Now, these dedicated pensioners are still languishing with a meagre 50 per cent of the total admissible pension; their full admissible pension has not been restored till date.

There is no corporate law which allows the management to deny this legal right to full pension after the completion of the commutation period. One hopes that the management would look into the matter and restore the full pension of those who had served the airline in its golden era.
