ISLAMABAD: Pakistan extended their unbeaten run in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Volleyball Championship by defeating Uzbekistan in straight sets to qualify for the semifinals here at the Liaquat Gymnasium on Sunday.

The hosts produced another commanding performance to win 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-18), recording their fourth consecutive victory without dropping a set in the championship.

Backed by a passionate home crowd, Pakistan dominated the opening set with aggressive serving, disciplined blocking and quick attacks. Uzbekistan offered stronger resistance in the second set, but the Green Shirts remained composed during the crucial stages to extend their lead.

Pakistan maintained control in the third set and closed out the match confidently to secure their place in the last four.

Earlier, Sri Lanka defeated Kazakhstan 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-20) in a convincing straight-sets victory.

Sri Lanka produced one of their best performances of the tournament, displaying excellent teamwork, disciplined blocking and powerful attacking throughout the match. Kazakhstan fought hard in each set but Sri Lanka maintained control during the crucial stages.

In another match, Bangladesh edged Nepal 3-2 (18-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11) in a thrilling five-set encounter.

Nepal made a strong start by claiming the opening set before Bangladesh levelled the match. Nepal regained the lead by winning the third set, but Bangladesh showed remarkable resilience to take the fourth before sealing victory in the deciding set.
