ABBOTTABAD: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Sunday visited Hazara division as part of the party’s ongoing street movement. She addressed public rallies in Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
In Abbottabad, she addressed two public gatherings, one at Missile Chowk, Mandian and another at Fawara Chowk, the main entrance to the city. Fawara Chowk was decorated with banners featuring Imran Khan, Aleema Khan and other PTI leaders.
She was received in Abbottabad by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and ex-speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani along with PTI MNA Ali Khan Jadoon.
Addressing workers at Fawara Chowk, Aleema Khan presented a two-point agenda for Imran Khan’s release, urging party workers and leaders to unite and prepare to march to Adiala Jail. She said the entire party leadership and all organisational wings should work together for the release of the PTI founder.
Stresses unity in party ranks
“Pakistanis are waiting for you. You should lead,” she told party workers, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister had announced a “semi-final” movement for August 5 and had tasked PTI provincial president Junaid Akbar with organising the campaign.
She said public was ready to support the movement but stressed that unity within the party was must before launching the movement.
Presenting her demands, she called for better medical treatment for Imran Khan and an end to his solitary confinement.
Meanwhile, Aleema Khan on Sunday visited Battagram to mobilise party workers and leaders for the release of the former prime minister.
Addressing a rally at Khatam-i-Nabbuwwat Chowk here, she criticised the federal government and institutions for keeping Imran Khan in solitary confinement and not providing him with medical treatment
Aleema Khan emphasised that for the past nine months, the government has kept Imran Khan in solitary confinement. Power quarters want to silence Imran Khan.
Imran Khan is in prison for the freedom of the nation. He has no personal agenda to make himself wealthy or to get into the corridors of power. His ideology revolves around the common people of this country, she said.
In Shinkiari, Mansehra, at a reception hosted by PTI MNA Shahzada Gustasap Khan on Sunday, Aleema Khan said that convoys of protesters from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would move towards Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to secure her brother’s release on August 5.
“I am here to seek the support of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa peoplefor the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. We will march to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to secure release of your incarcerated leader,” shetoldthe reception.
Ms Khan, who is touring Hazara Division and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to mobilise party workers and strengthen coordination among PTI lawmakers, said
“When sisters are compelled to come onto the streets to seek justice, it means all limits have been crossed by transgressors. My brother is being punished and subjected to mental torture because of his stance on the supremacy and sovereignty of the country,” she said.
Ms Khan alleged that statements attributed to her brother and circulated in the media were fabricated.
