SAHIWAL: Kameer police registered a case against four suspects and arrested them for attacking an Environment Protection Agency (EPA) team and injuring three officials at Chak 153/9-L.
The team went to inspect a brick kiln, owned by Sajid Abbas and Sharafat Ali, and found out that it was using outdated technology instead of the officially approved zigzag technology.
The EPA officials said a fine would be imposed on the brick kiln. At this, Nazakat Ali and other unidentified attackers began pelting the official vehicle with stones and smashing its windows.
Female staff and employees were reportedly held hostage during the assault while three officials, including Muhammad Usman and a machinery operator, were injured while one of them lost consciousness.
Kameer police and Elite Force arrived at the scene, controlled the situation, and shifted the injured to hospital. On the complaint of EPA Deputy Director Muhammad Imran, police registered a case and arrested four alleged attackers.
