FORGOTTEN COMMITMENT: Sufaid Sung, a village located some six kilometres from Warsak Dam, continues to suffer from an unreliable electricity supply. During the construction of the dam, a substantial portion of the local agricul- tural land was left submerged, causing significant economic losses to the families. The authorities had assured that electricity would be provided free of charge to the affected residents, but the commitment was later abandoned. Despite having no electricity meters or regular connections, many area residents have been burdened with bills collectively amounting to millions. The provincial government must honour the original agreement.

EXAMINATION IMPERSONATION: Impersonation has become an alarming problem at examination centres across Sindh. This widespread malpractice reflects the failure of testing authorities to implement effective identity verification measures. In some cases, candidates allegedly upload misleading profile photographs to evade detection. Moreover, the use of forged or fraudulently obtained computerised national identity cards (CNICs) further facilitates impersonation. From professional exams to recruitment screening tests for teaching, police and local government jobs, candidates are reportedly replaced by more qualified individuals who have previously appeared in similar examinations. This unabated menace must be addressed through stringent identity verification, biometric authentication, surveillance systems, as well as strict legal action against both impersonators and their facilitators.
