KASUR: An elderly woman was buried alive under the debris while another woman suffered injuries after the dilapidated roof of a room they were sleeping in collapsed on Friday in Dafto village.
According to Rescue 1122, Bashiran Bibi (65) and her granddaughter Misbah Bibi (21) were sleeping in a room when the roof caved in. As a result, Bashiran Bibi died on the spot, while Misbah suffered injuries.
Rescue 1122 personnel and locals took out both women from the debris and shifted them to the DHQ Hospital.
Police said the incident took place due to the poor condition of the roof.
SON KILLS MOTHER: A man allegedly axed his mother to death over a domestic issue in Basti Sabri on Friday.
Police claimed Bilal had differences with his mother over a domestic issue and the two exchanged harsh words on the day of the incident.
Later, police claimed the accused killed his mother with successive attacks of an axe, killing the elderly woman instantly and the accused managed his escape from the crime scene.
Local police recovered the murder weapon and shifted the body to the DHQ Hospital for postmortem and started investigations.
BOOKED: The Kanganpur Police on Friday lodged a theft case one year and three months after the incident against four accused.
According to complainant Zahoor Ahmed of Kot Gandi Roop Singh in Kanganpur, one Shahzad and three of his accomplices took 18 tola gold ornaments worth Rs8 million from his house on April 23, 2025.
The complainant claimed that while the accused were leaving after taking the gold ornaments, some villagers saw them and identified one of them as Shahzad of Burj Shahbaz in Kanganpur.
He also claimed that, later, in the village council, accused Shahzad admitted the theft and promised to return the gold ornaments which he later refused.
The complainant appeared before the DPO during an open court where the DPO ordered the registration of the case.
Police then lodged a case against the four accused, including Shahzad.
No arrest had been made so far in the case.
