RAWALPINDI: More than 989,924 children under the age of five will be vaccinated during the campaign across Rawalpindi district from August 10 to August 13.

This was informed in a meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC) with Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir in the chair.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Health Department, WHO Coordinator Dr Shamaila, representatives of the polio programme, and officers from all relevant departments. The meeting reviewed in detail the preparations for the Special Integrated Area Development (SIAD) polio campaign scheduled from August 10 to 13, 2026.

Discussions focused on micro-planning, deployment of vaccination teams, coverage of high-risk areas, security arrangements, cold chain management, logistics, social mobilisation, and the campaign’s monitoring mechanism.

To achieve the target, 4,215 mobile teams, 232 fixed teams, 176 transit teams, 686 area in-charges, and 200 union council medical officers will be deployed to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.

Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir said that the complete eradication of polio is a national responsibility and that no negligence or laxity would be tolerated.

He directed all concerned departments to work with close coordination and full commitment to achieve 100 per cent coverage and ensure timely vaccination of every eligible child.

The deputy commissioner warned that strict action would be taken against any officer or official showing poor performance or negligence during the campaign.
