KARACHI: A full-court reference was held at the Sindh High Court to pay homage to Justice Mahmood A. Khan, who hung up his robes on Thursday.

Courtroom No.1 was packed with members of the legal fraternity and federal and provincial law officers as well as representatives of bar associations, who lauded the services of Justice Khan.

Speaking at the reference, the Chief Justice of the SHC Zafar Ahmed Rajput said that Justice Khan played an essential role in upholding the prestige of the judiciary and dispensation of justice in accordance with the Constitution and laws.

While highlighting the services of the outgoing judge, he also stated that Justice Khan decided around 11,000 cases during his over a decade-long judicial career as a judge of the SHC.

The chief justice further said that the retiring judge has remained consistent with the rule of law and the members of the legal fraternity were fond of his politeness and balanced attitude.

The president of Sindh High Court Bar Association Haseeb Jamali and Karachi Bar Association’s president Amir Nawaz Warraich stated that the outvoting judge had enrolled as a lawyer in 1994 and highlighted his judicial services.

Justice Khan expressed gratitude to his family members, judges, judicial staff and lawyers for their support. He also stated that unfortunately, the professional standard in the legal fraternity has been declining.

The representatives of Sindh Bar Council and Malir Bar Association, and federal and provincial law officers also spoke on the occasion and praised the retiring judge.
