KARACHI: Sindh Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting children living with HIV and their families, saying that his department is utilising all available resources to ensure their treatment and welfare and that they will “never be left alone”.

He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (SESSI) on Thursday.

The meeting reviewed HIV cases among children at SESSI hospitals and discussed the screening process in detail.

Officials also presented a comprehensive report on the healthcare services and other facilities being provided to affected children and their families.

Addressing the meeting, Ghani stressed that every effort must be made to provide quality healthcare services to workers and their families.

He directed the authorities to improve the attendance and performance of doctors and paramedical staff at all SESSI hospitals.

He further instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted treatment and the timely provision of medicines to workers and their dependants, warning that negligence in patient care would no longer be tolerated.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to children affected by HIV, Ghani said that no compromise would be tolerated in ensuring their complete medical treatment and welfare.

He assured all affected families that the Sindh government would continue to stand by them and would not leave them to face their challenges alone.

Also on Thursday, some families of HIV-affected children staged a protest outside Valika Hospital in SITE, demanding better treatment facilities.
