FAISALABAD, July 16: After the escape of three women from the Social Welfare department’s shelter, seven other inmates have approached the local courts in a bid to return to their parents due to the alleged indifferent attitude of the officials concerned.

Sources said one Kulsoom Bibi, who had escaped from Darul Amaan, being run by the department, along with two other inmates –Raheela and Ramzana on Saturday night, had returned to her parents..

She had leveled allegations of torture and misbehavior against the shelter staff. The two other inmates had again been shifted to the shelter by the police and were asked to approach the courts for relief or any complaint against the staff.

The shelter management has decided to raise the building’s boundary walls to check any further escapes.

“Seven other women have filed written applications before various civil judges of the city to get permission to go to their own homes. If the courts decided in their favour, these women would leave the shelter”, Superintendent Mian Anwar confirmed.

HUDOOD CASE: A case was registered against 17 people, including a woman, for raping two girls and torturing and disgracing women publicly here on Sunday.

Muhammad Shareef of Chak No. 31 JB, Thikriwala, lodged a complaint with the area police claiming that Abdul Ghaffar, Ameen, Suleman and Hajira Bibi, along with 13 other persons, allegedly entered his house and started beating all the inmates.

The attackers misbehaved with Surraya Bibi, Yasmeen, Nooran Bibi and Jameela Bibi, and tore their clothes at gunpoint and also disgraced them publicly. The accused took two young girls to some unknown place, and allegedly subjected them to gang rape for about three days. The victim girls after their rescue from the captivity narrated their plight to the area people, who approached the police for registration of a case against the accused.

Thikriwala police have registered a case against the accused under section 337, 395, 347 and 10 of the Hudood Ordinance without any arrests so far.
