• Premier wants paper-based work to be replaced by digital processes
• Assures newly appointed GB CM of federal support for regional development
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based system for his office, describing it as a transformative digital platform that will modernise governance by recording, communicating, monitoring and tracking every directive issued by the premier — from issuance to implementation, verified completion and post-completion monitoring.
Addressing the launch ceremony at the PM’s Office, the prime minister directed all relevant authorities to ensure the immediate and full implementation of the AI-based system, making it clear that traditional paper-based processes would be replaced by digital workflows.
“From today onwards, I will not expect any of you with a file in your hands. Everything will be discussed through this mechanism,” the prime minister said.
He praised Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the IT secretary for their efforts in developing and operationalising the system.
The prime minister urged all ministries and government departments to adopt the platform, saying it would significantly improve the government’s ability to deliver results.
“This will make service delivery easier,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja and other senior officials. The prime minister was given a comprehensive briefing on the AI-powered platform and its objectives.
He was informed that the PMOS system was the first government platform in Pakistan to integrate artificial intelligence as a core component of decision-making and implementation monitoring, making it a pioneering initiative in the federal government’s digital transformation.
According to the briefing, PMOS has been developed at the centre of government to ensure the efficient communication of the prime minister’s directives across the government while enabling their timely implementation in accordance with defined quality standards.
PM meets GB CM
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met newly appointed Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Chief Minister Advocate Amjad Hussain and assured him that the federal government was committed to working closely with his government for the welfare of the region’s people.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the premier told Mr Hussain that the Centre is committed to working with his government for “the welfare and well-being of the people of GB”.
The statement said that he also congratulated Mr Hussain on assuming office. PM Shehbaz said that the federal government was undertaking development initiatives in renewable energy, tourism, infrastructure, health, education and other sectors for the region’s progress.
“Among the federal government’s projects, the top priorities include a 100-megawatt solar energy initiative and the establishment of knowledge schools,” the statement quoted the premier as saying.
Separately, GB CM Amjad Hussain visited the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) at the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and vowed to work closely with the centre for improved disaster risk management.
During the visit, the NDMA chairman briefed the chief minister on the operational capabilities of the NEOC, including its state-of-the-art early warning systems, real-time hazard monitoring, weather forecasting, risk assessment and coordination mechanisms for disaster preparedness and emergency response.
