GENEVA: Pakistan yesterday [July 19] gave a 10-point programme in order to overcome the sufferings of the Third World nations... . The programme was given at the Special Economic Committee meeting of the 61st session of United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), of which Pakistan is a member. The programme was outlined by Mr Aftab Ahmed Khan, Secretary, Economic Affairs Division. He said the programme needs urgent consideration of the ECOSOC and the world community, in general, and by the nations of the Third World... . He said it is in this context that Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has suggested that a summit meeting of the Third World countries be convened to devise a new strategy to deal with economic problems.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Hyderabad,] at least 20 persons are reported to have died in the interior of Sind due to torrential rain in five days. … Eleven of them were drowned, six died due to electric shock, two were struck by lightning while one person was killed in a house collapse. Many families are reported to have been rendered homeless... .
