KARACHI: The Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) has condemned all acts of violence, trespass, vandalism, and assault on its officials in the discharge of their lawful duties, while reaffirming its commitment to transparency, due process, and the rule of law.

Responding to media reports regarding a violent protest at the STDC Keenjhar Lake Resort, the corporation said the reports alleging the termination of more than 15 contractual employees are incorrect and the “locally engaged contingency staff continue to perform their duties in the normal course”.

It said that the corporation has initiated disciplinary proceedings only in respect of one contingency employee on account of repeated unauthorised absence from duty and misconduct. Such proceedings were commenced only after the issuance of repeated warnings and are being conducted strictly in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and prescribed procedure, it added.
