LAHORE: A judicial magistrate at Cantonment Courts on Monday sent three more suspects on judicial remand in a case of alleged kidnapping and rape of two foreign women.

Defence C police produced the three suspects before the court on expiry of their previous remand.

The police asked the court to send them on judicial remand as their physical remand for 14 days had been completed.

The magistrate accepted the request and sent the suspects to judicial lockup, with a direction to the police to submit its investigation report by the next hearing.

A duty magistrate had on Sunday allowed the police a five-day physical remand of a suspect identified as “Boss” by the complainant in the FIR.

The suspect was produced before the court for his first physical remand since his purported arrest several days ago.

A Lahore High Court judge on Monday disposed of a habeas corpus petition filed by the mother of the suspect-Boss seeking recovery of her son from alleged illegal custody of the police.

A law officer told the court that the son of the petitioner was on physical remand granted by the magistrate concerned.

The LHC disposed of the petition in light of the law officer’s statement.

Four other suspects, including a relative of a senior political figure of the country, had already been shifted to jail on judicial remand.
