TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as 254 sanitary supervisors and 187 loader motorcycle-rickshaw drivers performing duty in Suthra Punjab Authority (SPA) have been sacked while salaries for May and 18 days of June have also not been paid along with the Rs10,000 prize money for best performance announced by deputy commissioner on on EiduL Azha.
This was stated by Pakistan Labour Qaumi Movement Chairman Baba Latif Ansari while addressing a protest demonstration of Suthra Punjab workers outside the DC office in Faisalabad on Monday.
He claimed that an agreement was reached between workers, DC and Suthra Punjab officials before Eidul Azha that no employee would be terminated but the promise had not been kept. He and other speakers warned that if dismissed staffers were not restored, they would be forced to take to the streets everyday.
Meanwhile, Suthra Punjab press release claimed that the terminated staffers were not its employees. It added that they were contract workers hired by a third party which was having a contract with it.
FDA BUDGET: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) approved the proposed annual budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 and the revised budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in a meeting chaired by FDA Director General Muhammad Asif.
FDA Additional Director General Qaiser Abbas Rand delivered a briefing on the proposed budget, covering projected revenue, development and non-development expenditures, revenue generation strategies, fiscal discipline and the authority’s development targets for the coming year.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Punjab Planning and Development Board, Secretary Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department, and Punjab Finance Department, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mudassar Mumtaz, Deputy Managing Director Wasa, Shoaib Rashid, Chief Engineer, Mehr Ayub and directors.
FDA DG Muhammad Asif claimed that the budget had been prepared on the basis of a balanced, realistic, and revenue-oriented strategy.

MURDER: A blind murder case of a young man that occurred on July 7 near Chak 205 RB, Khurrianwala at Faisalabad has been resolved and his father-in-law, a brother-in-law and their family friend have been identified as his killers.
Police claimed that due to domestic dispute, Azeem had banned his wife from keeping contact with her parents. This provoked his father-in-law Shahbaz who planned his murder and his brother-in-law Qasim and an accomplice, Ghulam Rasool, shot Azeem dead when he was travelling on his bike.
The suspects have been arrested.
