KARACHI: Jam Khan Shoro and Mir Sadiq Umrani, the irrigation minsters of Sindh and Balochistan, held an online meeting on Thursday to review the supply of water to Balochistan and discuss matters related to inter-provincial water management.
The meeting was attended online by Sindh Irrigation Secretary Zarif Khero, chief engineers of Guddu and Sukkur barrages and others.
During the meeting, participants carried out a comprehensive review of the current water situation, the canal system, the supply of water to Balochistan, and the implementation of the inter-provincial water agreement.
On the directives of the Sindh chief minister, Mr Shoro instructed the relevant authorities to ensure the full and timely release of Balochistan’s allocated share of water in accordance with the inter-provincial water agreement.
He further directed officials to make all necessary administrative and operational arrangements to guarantee an uninterrupted supply.
The two provincial ministers reaffirmed their commitment to resolving all matters relating to water distribution between Sindh and Balochistan through close coordination, mutual cooperation, and strict adherence to the provisions of the inter-provincial water agreements.
They emphasised that such cooperation is essential to safeguarding the interests of the people and farming communities of both provinces and ensuring equitable water distribution.
