55 detained Iranian fishermen freed in UAE, Iran embassy says

Fifty-five Iranian fishermen have been freed from custody in the United Arab Emirates, Reuters reports, citing a message posted by Iran’s embassy on Telegram.

The fishermen were detained by the UAE’s coast guard in recent months due to “special conditions” in the region, the embassy adds, in a likely reference to the Iran war.

The process to send them home has started, the embassy says.
