Suspected dacoit killed in CCD ‘shoot-out’

SAHIWAL: The Crime Control Department (CCD) claimed that a suspected dacoit was killed during an “encounter” with its Sahiwal and Pakpattan officials near Malang Mor, 78/5-L village, while his two accomplices manged to escape on Sunday night.

The CCD claimed that suspect Qadeer Hussain, 45, a resident of Khudyian Khas, Kasur district, who was on physical remand in case No 904/26, registered against him under sections 311, 302, 365, 511, 148, 149 and 337 of the Pakistan penal Code (PPC), had escaped from the custody of Pakpattan officials. He was wanted in many criminal cases registered in Kasur district.

As per the CCD, Pakpattan Sub Inspector Naseeb declared in a call that Qadeer had escaped from the custody, along with his two accomplices.

It said teams from CCD Pakpattan and Sahiwal tracked a motorcycle coming from Pakpattan side at Malang Mor, who started firing at the personnel.

After a crossfire lasting around 20 minutes, the personnel found Qadeer’s body with bullet wounds. A pistol and a motorcycle were found near the body, while the suspect’s two accomplice escaped in the dark, the CCD claimed.

Sources say that after Qadeer’s escape from CCD Pakpattan’s custody, a case was registered against him on July 11 under sections 353, 186, 427, 224 and 34 of the PPC.

Later, the body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for the postmortem examination, to be conducted by a medical board.

A CCD team has been dispatched to arrest the fleeing suspects.

The sources say that Sahiwal CCD had also registered a separate case against the suspects under sections 302, 324, 353, 186 and 34 of the PPC on the reports of Inspector Waqas Ahmed.

Meanwhile, the CTD claimed that a Kasur-based suspected dacoit was also killed in an “encounter” near Sahiwal.

They claimed that the suspect, identified as Kabir (45), was a criminal and was being pursued by Patoki and Kasur police as he was wanted in 45 criminal cases.
