Speaking at the Nato summit in Ankara, Trump has again criticised the alliance for not assisting the US’ efforts in Iran.

“When they could have, they weren’t there for us, and we’ve been there for them,” he said, remarking that the US has spent “over a trillion dollars” on protecting these countries from Russia, despite it having “nothing to do with us”.

“They haven’t treated us right, and Mark understands that … and we’re gonna work something out, I think, one way or the other.”
