BAHAWALNAGAR: A married woman claiming to be a victim of gang rape has alleged that the Maroot Police not only failed to arrange her medical test, but also exonerated her rapists through a flawed investigation.
In her video statement, the woman, a resident of Chak 315/HR, Maroot, stated that two men from Chak 322/HR broke into her home on May 30 at about 9pm and gang-raped her at gunpoint when her husband was away for work.
According to the victim, following a call to 15, police visited the crime scene, recorded the statements of witnesses and registered an FIR against the rapists.
However, she said that despite numerous reminders, investigating officer Imran Ashraf neither arrested the culprits nor arranged for her medical test or called her for interrogation at any forum. Instead, she alleged that he, in exchange of a hefty bribe, exonerated her rapists from the allegations.
In her video clip posted on social media, the woman demanded that the regional police officer and inspector general of police take prompt and stern notice of the incident and have it investigated by an honest officer.
Neither the IO nor the SHO of the police station concerned was available for comments.
Meanwhile, the alleged rapists of a deaf and mute girl, who was reportedly gang-raped her two days ago in Haroonabad, are yet to be arrested.
The FIR registered with the Saddar police stated that three youths, residents of Chak 79/1-L, lured a deaf and mute girl of the same area from her home to a nearby shop on July 3 and subjected her to gang rape.
The Saddar Police registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of the victim’s father; however, the suspects were still at large.
