Lopsided wins at women’s U-21 hockey

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ‘B’, Olympian Zakir Women Academy, Gilgit-Balti­stan and Sindh ‘B’ comfortably won their respective pool matches on the third day of the Prime Minister National Wom­en’s U-21 Hockey Championship at the Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.

In the opening match, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ‘B’ outclassed Sindh ‘A’ 6-0. Sawera scored a hat-trick, Samar made a brace while Rashida netted one.

In the second match, Olympian Zakir Women Academy outclassed Star Women Academy ‘A’ 6-0. Sobia scored three goals while Sehrish, Robesha and Raqqiya contributed one each.

Gilgit-Baltistan registered a 3-0 victory over Star Women Academy ‘B’ in the day’s third clash. Arsheela struck twice while Salsabeela scored one.

Sindh ‘B’ team secured a convincing 5-0 win over Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in the day’s last game. Umme Fatima scored a hat-trick while Mubashna and Ashna added one each.

A total of 16 teams from across the country are participating in the championship.
