Man killed during robbery near Sihala

ISLAMABAD: A man was killed during a robbery, while gangs of robbers looted motorcycles, cash and valuables in six robberies and a burglary in the capital, police said.

In the first incident, a man was killed during a robbery about half a kilometre away from the Sihala police station. The victim was identified as Abdul Rehman, 18, a native of Lahore.

Abudul Rehman was residing in Islamabad to earn a livelihood for his family and worked at a food outlet. He and his friend, Ali Raza, were travelling on the Expressway on a motorcycle when, upon reaching Kak Bridge, one of the tyres of the two-wheeler got punctured. While two motorcyclists appeared at the scene and held them up at gunpoint.

The gunmen later looted a mobile phone and Rs10,000 in cash. During the robbery, a physical fight began between the robbers and Abdul Rehman, during which he fell from Kak Bridge.

As a result, he sustained serious injuries and died at the spot. The robbers then escaped with the loot.

In another incident, a gang of robbers looted a motorcycle, cash and mobile phones from two persons in Golra. The incident took place in E-12 when Abdul Ayan, along with Hamza, arrived.

Two gunmen intercepted and held them up at gunpoint before looting two mobiles and a motorcycle and Rs20,000 in cash from them.

Likewise, another gang of robbers looted a motorcycle, cash and a mobile phone from Malik Fida Hussain in I-14/1.

Mr Hussain was on his way to his office when, upon reaching I-14/4, three armed men intercepted and held him at gunpoint and looted his new, unregistered motorcycle, a mobile phone, a tablet and Rs5,000 in cash before escaping.

Moreover, a gang of robbers looted cash and mobile phones from a pharmacy in Ghouri Town Phase 4B. Two armed men raided the pharmacy of Adnan Ahmed and held him and others hostage at gunpoint.

The gunmen later looted Rs350,000 in cash and mobile phones from the shop, the shopkeepers and others before escaping.

Furthermore, another gang of robbers looted cash and mobile phones from a shop on G.T. Road. Two armed men raided a shop owned by Abdul Rehman Arif and held him and his friends at gunpoint.

The robbers later looted Rs14,000 in cash and two mobile phones from them before escaping.

Besides, a gang of robbers looted cash, mobile phones and valuables worth Rs600,000 from an office. Three armed robbers raided the office of Naeem Ahmed in Lakhwal and held him up at gunpoint.

The gunmen later looted cash and valuables before escaping.

In another incident, a gang of robbers looted a motorcycle from a man in Banigala. Three armed robbers intercepted Noman Pervaiz, held him up at gunpoint and looted his United 70 motorcycle and a Tecno mobile phone before escaping.
