DERA GHAZI KHAN: Eight gangsters active in the Sulaiman range area have surrendered at a ceremony held at Kot Mubarak Police Station.
The Dera Ghazi Khan district administration and law enforcement agencies claimed on Wednesday that the dacoits belonging to the Chakrani group, affiliated with the Ladi gang, active in the Khosa-dominated area in the Sulaiman range voluntarily surrendered and handed themselves over to the authorities.
During a ceremony held at the Kot Mubarak Police station, the gang members surrendered their weapons in the presence of their family members.
Dera Ghazi Khan Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid, DPO Sadiq Baloch, Koh-i-Sulaiman Political Assistant Ameer Taimoor, officers from the Punjab Police and BMP officer Khurram Khan Khosa, participating as a Khosa tribal elder, were present on the occasion.
Addressing a media briefing, DC Khalid and DPO Baloch stated that alongside ongoing operations against gangs active in the Sulaiman range, a parallel process of dialogue had been maintained, which resulted in this first major success. They welcomed their decision to integrate into the national mainstream and assured them that the government would provide legal protection and every possible support to those who had surrendered.
The DC further revealed that negotiations were also underway with other groups active in the Sulaiman range and expressed hope that they too would soon join the national mainstream. He emphasised that once peace was fully established in the area, special focus would be placed on development projects, with government funds allocated to improve education, health, basic facilities and infrastructure.
He said that effective measures would be taken, in collaboration with the government and industrial entities under corporate social responsibility (CSR), to provide dignified employment opportunities for the youth.
DPO Baloch noted that under the government’s policy, more than 400 criminals from the Katcha areas of Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan had earlier surrendered and now this historic achievement had been replicated in Dera Ghazi Khan’s Koh-i-Sulaiman region. He expressed confidence that following this breakthrough, other criminal groups would also lay down arms and join the national mainstream. He said two more groups of gangsters active in the same area would soon surrender before law enforcement agencies.
Both officials reiterated their commitment that the district administration and law enforcement agencies would continue their joint efforts to establish complete peace in the Sulaiman range, protect the lives and property of the public, and ensure sustainable development in the area.
