BAHAWALPUR: A trader was shot dead on Wednesday, while his three-year old son suffered serious bullet injuries in firing by a motorcyclist in K Block of Model Town in Burewala city in Vehari district.
According to police sources, a trader, Anwar Kamal Khan, belonging to Bannu, along with his three-year old son Sultan, was standing near his house in K Block, Model Town, when a motorcyclist opened fire.
As a result, Anwar Khan died on the spot, while his son was seriously injured. Meanwhile, the attacker fled the scene.
On being informed of the incident, a team of Model Town police reached the scene and after collecting evidence, shifted the body to the Bureawal THQ Hospital for the postmortem examination. The injured child was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
On the complaint of the victim’s wife, Fatimah Bibi, the police registered a murder case, nominating one Siddiqueur Rehman as the suspected killer.
She said in the FIR that the suspect, also belonging to Bannu, murdered her husband over an old enmity. The police have yet to arrest the suspect.
TWO SUSPECTS HELD: Police claimed to have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the rape/attempted rape of two minor boys in separate incidents occurring in Sammasatta and Kahrorepucca, respectively.
In the first incident, according to Sammsatta police station SHO Rao Hussain Feroze, a three-year old child was lured by a neighbour, ‘A’, a resident of Mohallah Sardarabad of Khanqah Sharif, to his house, where he raped the child.
The complainant, Ghulam Sarwar, said that after his son went missing, he started looking for him, along with other residents of the locality.
He said that they heard the child’s screams from the suspect’s house and knocked the door. On seeing them, he said, the suspect fled away leaving the injured child, who was admitted to the hospital.
The police, on his complaint, registered FIR No 433/26 under section 376 of the PPC against the suspect.
The SHO claimed that the suspect has been arrested from his hideout.
In the second incident, according to Lodhran police, a suspect, ‘T’, allegedly attempted to rape a 13-year-old boy at his house atChah Soniwala village of Mauza Qabil Wah on June 15.
The suspect also recorded an obscene video of the boy and threatened him to post it on social media if informed his parents about the incident, the police added.
On the complaint of the boy’s father, Ijaz, Kahrorepucca Saddar police arrested the suspect and registered a case (FIR No 476/26) under sections 376, 377, 292 and 511 of the PPC against him.
