PESHAWAR: A local court has convicted two accused and sentenced them to life imprisonment for killing four persons, including two brothers, over three years ago in the Chamkani area here.
An additional sessions judge, Rafiullah, pronounced that the prosecution had proved its case against Noor Wali and Fazl-i-Raziq and the evidence on record connected them with the offence.
The judge sentenced them under different provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.
They were sentenced to life imprisonment on four counts and were ordered to pay Rs250,000 compensation to the legal heirs of each of the four deceased.
They were also fined Rs50,000 each under another provision of the PPC for damaging the car which they had fired at. Their sentences should run concurrently.
The court also declared as proclaimed offenders seven absconding accused – Yaseen Wali, Sher Wali, Gul Wali, Gul Said, Noor Said, Zia and Fazal Shah.
The judge observed that they had failed to appear before the court and had deliberately evaded arrest and trial.
The attack had resulted into death of four persons, including two brothers, Mamraiz and Jangraiz, and Gulab Shah and Shiraz.
The complainant in the case was Shiraz’s son Asadullah, who stated that on Oct 13, 2022, they had gone to a local court for acquiring bail in a complaint filed against them by two of the accused persons.
He stated that when they reached the place of occurrence, nine accused persons, riding two motorcycles and as many cars, started indiscriminate fire on their vehicle, killing his four relatives.
