DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A man who had been kidnapped a week ago was rescued during an intelligence-based operation carried out on the outskirts of Chehkan here early on Tuesday, police said.
SP Paharpur Mohammad Iqbal Baloch led the raid. They said a search operation was continuing to apprehend other suspects believed to be involved in the case.
Addressing a press conference,
SP Baloch said the police team, which also comprised CTD officials, used modern investigative and technical methods, leading to the safe recovery of the victim and the arrest of three suspects.
He said preliminary investigations indicated that Mohammad Saleem had been kidnapped for ransom.
He identified the arrested suspects as Ashfaq, Tausif and Ashfaq, residents of Tank district who were temporarily residing in Dera.
He further said the suspects were also wanted by the Tank police in theft and robbery cases.
According to police, Saleem was abducted from Kach village on June 24.
His father, Mohammad Jan, had filed a kidnapping case at Band Korai police.
