University issues

SINDH University is the first teaching institution that was established after the creation of Pakistan. There are several academic achievements that may be attributed to this great institution. I am proud to say that the level of education at the university is no less than any of the universities across the world.

Meritorious students are also offered scholarships and even sent abroad for higher education in specific fields. Being a public-sector institution, initially there was no fee, and it was ideal for poor, meritorious and deserving students from Sindh, particularly from Hyderabad, Kotri, Jamshoro, Dadu and Thatta.

Later, self-finance scheme was intro-duced, which made life difficult for those who could not afford it. Another issue is that of the university’s transport system because there is a serious lack of point buses for both boys and girls.

The commute from the university to Hyderabad is a tricky ride. Buses are seen packed with students, and even girls are forced to travel while standing on footboards, which puts their lives in great danger.

Despite charging exorbitant fee, the university consistently fails in providing proper transport to its students. The relevant authorities should take immediate and effective steps to address the problems which the university is currently facing.
