SUKKUR: The body of a woman was fished out from Mir Wah (irrigation channel) on the outskirts of Khairpur on Sunday.

The woman, Rukhsana Khaskheli, had gone missing a day earlier and her family came to know that she was seen jumping into the canal. After 24 hours of hectic search, her body was fished out by volunteers and local divers.

The body was taken to the Khairpur Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Youth shoots himself

A youth allegedly shot himself and suffered a life-threatening wound on his head within his home, located in the Qaimuddin Street of Jacobabad on Saturday night, officials at the City police station said.

The youth, Kapil Wadhwani, was rushed to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital where doctors referred him to the Sukkur Civil Hospital for advanced treatment. Kapil was, however, moved to a private hospital.

His brother, Prem Kumar, told the police and local journalists that Kapil used a pistol to kill himself. He, however, did not give a reason behind his brother’s extreme action.
