TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as 30 passengers were injured on Saturday night when their bus overturned on the Lahore-Jaranwala Road near Khunda stop Mor in Nankana Sahib district due to speeding.
Rescue 1122 shifted 21 critically injured people to the Nankana Sahib DHQ Hospital while nine others having minor injuries were provided with medical aid on the spot.
The bus was carrying mourners who were returning to Lahore after attending a majlis in Syedwala.
Meanwhile, a bus hit a motorcycle-rickshaw injuring two young female passengers near Bahoo Chowk in Jhang. They were identified as Sajida Waris (17) and Maria Ashraf (26).
MURDER: A middle-aged man was found murdered in his house in Chak 115 GB of Jaranwala tehsil on Sunday.
Complainant Sajid Iqbal said in his FIR that his brother Abid Iqbal (35) lived alone and his body was found tied with ropes. He alleged that he was strangled to death by unidentified persons. The body had been shifted to the Jaranwala THQ Hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a young man died by suicide near Abbaspur railway station in Faisalabad by jumping in front of a train on Sunday.
Thikriwala police identified the deceased as Ehtasham (22) and handed over his body to his parents.
RAPE: A youth was arrested for allegedly raping a physically disabled girl in Chak 42 RB in Sangla Hill tehsil of Nankana Sahib on Sunday.
The complainant told the police that accused forcibly entered the house of his uncle and raped his cousin ‘S’. Police arrested the accused.
In another similar incident, a mentally-challenged girl was allegedly gang raped by three men in Chak 11 RB, Dera Tailanwala, in Sheikhupura district.
The father of the victim in his complaint to the Khanqa Dogran Police claimed that his daughter went to a grocery shop and there the accused persons lured her to the house of one ‘A’. There, he alleged, they gang raped her. Police have arrested the accused.
ENCOUNTER: An alleged shooter was killed in an encounter with the Faisalabad Gulberg Police late on Saturday night.
Police claimed that SHO Rana Abdul Ghaffar was present with his team near the Kamalabad graveyard when three suspects riding a motorcycle were stopped but they opened fire on the cops. Police claimed that later a suspect was found dead by the firing of his two accomplices, who had escaped.
The deceased suspect was identified as Ghulam Muhayyddin of Chak 55JB. Police claimed that he was wanted in a number of cases of robberies and harassing citizens by firing over refusal to give him extortion money.
