LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday kept mobile service suspended in 24 districts to maintain law and order and maintain peace on Yaum-i-Ashur.
The ministry of interior and narcotics control had requested the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on behalf of the Punjab government to partially jam cellular services in different districts of Punjab to maintain law and order situation.
A home department spokesman said the cellular services remained jam at majalis’ locations, procession routes and sensitive locations in the province.
The mobile services remained suspended in 24 districts – Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Bhakkar, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Narowal, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Chiniot, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.
The spokesperson said mobile service remained uninterrupted in other districts of the province.
