LONDON: England defeated Pakistan 2-1 in their FIH Pro League match at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London on Wednesday.

This was Pakistan’s 14th consecutive defeat in the ongoing season of the league.

The opening quarter remained goalless as both the sides struggled to convert chances, despite England applying steady pressure.

Six penalty corners were awarded in the period, with England receiving four and Pakistan two, yet neither side managed to score.

Pakistan took lead in the second quarter when Rana Waheed Ashraf struck in the 27th minute.

Making a fine comeback after the second quarter, England scored twice in the third and fourth quarters through Roper Phil (39th minute) and Hooper Samuel (46th) to win the match.
