LARKANA: Division Commissioner Rasheed Masood Khan on Wednesday imposed Section 144, prohibiting people from swimming in the Rice Canal.

An official notification issued, stating that the ban has been enforced for a period of 90 days on swimming in the Rice Canal passing through the limits of Larkana and all its connected waterways, following a surge in drowning incidents in the canal.

All SHOs within the jurisdiction have been empowered to strictly enforce Section 144 and take legal action against violators upon receipt of any written complaint.

Officials of the irrigation department have also been directed to install warning boards along the banks of the canals and their branches passing through Larkana Division, cautioning the public against swimming in these waterways.
