CHITRAL: Former provincial minister and vice-president of PPP’s provincial chapter, Saleem Khan, has demanded that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif include the Chitral-Garam Chashma-Durah Road project in the Annual Development Programme.
Addressing a news conference at the Chitral Press Club here the other day, he said that the road project was of immense importance for the country as it will connect Chitral with Tajikistan.
He was flanked by other party activists.
Mr Khan said that as an MPA from the area, he got the project included in the ADP in 2017 when he had approached the then PM Nawaz Sharif, but it was excluded from the programme during the PTI government.
The PPP leader said the road’s total length was 82 kilometres from Chitral city, and that it should be included in the ADP given its strategic importance.
He regretted that the PM had been apprised of the issue during his visit to Chitral last year. He said that despite the assurance from the premier, the Shandur Road project was allocated only Rs1 billion and the Kalash valleys road Rs200 million.
