LAHORE, July 11: Another proclaimed offender was killed in an alleged encounter near Chuhng, police said on Tuesday. Police said they tried to stop five men in a car bearing ‘MPA’ on its registration number plate at a picket near Chuhhg but they sped away. A police party chased the car. On reaching Pir Adalat Road, the occupants of the car allegedly opened fire on the police party which was retaliated.

After a brief crossfire, four of them managed to disappear in the nearby fields. Their fifth accomplice was found with a pistol lying close to him.

The police identified the dead man as Shahbaz, alias Fauji, an accomplice of the dacoit who was killed in an encounter on Sunday night in the Kot Lakhpat area.

Sources said Shahbaz was arrested after Sunday night’s encounter and was killed in a staged encounter.
