BAHAWALPUR: A lioness and a deer gave birth to three cubs and a fawn, respectively, at the Bahawalpur Zoo the other day.

According to official sources, the zoo management has kept the fawn and the lion cubs in a secure place away from the visitors and will put them on display when they will grow up a bit. Zoo Deputy Director Mujahid Kaleem confirmed the births, saying the newborns are healthy along their mothers and the zoo veterinary doctors are looking after them.

The Bahawalpur Zoo has always been considered the best facility for lion breeding in the entire country. During previous years, this zoo has earned millions by selling adult lions to a number of other zoos across Punjab.
