LAHORE: Khwaja Nadeem Group has swept the Lahore Region Cricket Association’s (LRCA) election by winning all the newly-formed five zones of the region here on Friday.

According to the results announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday, Wasif Zaman/Sheraz Rokhari’s group failed to win even a single seat in all five zones as all 15 seats went to Nadeem’s group.

The elections were held by the PCB election commissioner at the PCB’s offices. The PCB had increased the zones of the region to five from three. The group had already won the two out of five zones unopposed as no candidate submitted its papers.

Now the PCB will announce the elections for the president and secretary of the region in due course of time in which 15 elected members of five zones will cast their votes. After getting the overwhelming majority at zonal elections, Khawaja Nadeem, incumbent president LRCA, has a strong chance to retain his post for the next three years.

After his group won the elections, Nadeem said LRCA’s his main agenda would be to promote two or three days cricket instead of T20. He said the second priority is to establish more cricket grounds for clubs.

Lahore is short of cricket grounds for clubs, while private business houses have raised the rent of their grounds.
