Wasa official killed in road accident

SAHIWAL: A Wasa official died and a Sahiwal public health engineering department (PHED) official was critically injured in a road accident near village 21/11-L while on their way to Burewala late on Thursday night.

As per reports, Wasa Deputy Director Engineering Akbar Ali Zahid and PHED Accounts Clerk Muhammad Afzal were travelling home in Akbar’s car which overturned after being struck by a truck during an overtaking attempt.

Eyewitness said Akbar died on the spot, while the truck driver fled the scene.

Later, the Ghaziabad Police registered a case against the unidentified driver on the complaint of Afzal.

MURDER: A youth was allegedly shot dead and his two cousins were critically injured following a dispute in the village Thattapur Bera, Noor Shah, over a minor dispute on Thursday.

According to reports, Shahzad (25) had driven a loader trolley through a village street, which enraged his neighbour Zaheer. A heated argument and scuffle ensued but was temporarily settled by local villagers.

The next day, when Shahzad and his cousins Nasir and Sohail were heading to their fields, they were intercepted by Zaheer, Javed, and their accomplices. The assailants opened fire. Shahzad died on the spot, while his cousins sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital.

The Bahadur Shah Police reached the scene, conducted a forensic examination, and registered a murder case.
