Three women held for retracting rape charges

SAHIWAL: Police registered four cases and arrested three women and their witnesses for filing rape cases and later retracting their statements in court either after reconciling with the suspects.

District Police Officer Usman Tipu while talking toDawnsaid six persons, including three women, have been arrested during the last two days.

He said four women were booked under Section 22/9-2 (filing false complaints) of the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021 with Ghaziabad and Saddar police stations, Chichawatni, on compliant of their investigating officers.

In the first case, Kausar Parveen, a resident of Chak 113/12-L, had lodged a rape case against Zakir and others on Oct 15, 2025. She later withdrew her statement before the court, leading to the acquittal of all the suspects.

In the second case, a prayer leader was accused of raping an eight-year-old girl at Chak 111/7-R.

The complaint was filed by the girl child’s father. However, both the complainant and witnesses later reconciled with the suspect and retracted their statements.

In the third case, Sumera Bibi, a married woman from Chak 109/12-L, had accused Muhammad Ahmed and his associates of kidnapping and raping her on April 15, 2025.

She also retracted her statement and the court released the suspects. In the fourth case, Zareena Bibi of Chak 164/9-L alleged that her daughter, Maria, was raped by Muhammad Arslan. Later, both mother and daughter dropped their accusations, and the case was dismissed.

Ghaziabad Police and Saddar Police of Chichawatni registered fresh cases against the complainants and witnesses on the reports of investigating officers Muhammad Usman, Faisal Hussain and Muhammad Iqbal.

ENCOUNTER: A suspect was injured while his accomplice escaped after an alleged encounter with Yousafwala Police near Chak 66/5-L.

Police claimed that the mobile unit of Yousafwala Police was on routine patrol when it got 15 emergency call that two robbers were on run after robbery near Chak 66/5-L.

Police encountered them and they opened fire at the policemen. Police personnel retaliated and crossfire continued for 15 minutes. Both the suspects entered a maize field. After firing stopped, police found one Azmat Ali, a resident of Chak 80/5-L, in an injured condition.

His unidentified accomplice escaped. Police recovered a motorcycle, a 30-bore pistol and cash from him.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Later, a case was registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Imtiaz Ali.

CASE SOLVED: Shah Kot Police solved the mystery surrounding the alleged suicide of a man after 23 days and arrested his wife, her male friend, and two accomplices for his murder at Chak 34/14-L, Pakpattan.

According to police, Khizar Hayat had been married to Kiran for 14 years, and the couple had two children. On the night of May 26, Kiran informed her brother-in-law, Umer Hayat, that Khizar had committed suicide.

The family and police rushed to the scene and a case was registered.

However, police conducted a postmortem and sent samples to Lahore for forensic analysis. Two weeks later, the forensic report confirmed that Khizar had not committed suicide but was killed after a scuffle.

The report also indicated clear torture marks on his neck, establishing that he was strangled.

Shah Kot police registered a murder FIR on the complaint of Umar Hayat and arrested the suspects.
