MARDAN: Police officials on Thursday claimed to have resolved the mystery behind the Sikh Gurdwara double murder case after they arrested the alleged killer involved in the incident.
Talking to media-persons in a press conference at his office, Mardan DPO Masood Ahmad Bangash claimed that a policeman turned out to be the killer of the minority couple.
He told journalists that the main suspect had been transferred from the Gurdwara three years ago, which had left him resentful.
However, he said that the suspect involved in the case had been identified as police officer Sher Shah.
The arrest of the suspect within 24 hours is the result of the efforts of police officers, the DPO Masood Bangash said.
The police preliminary investigations revealed that it was a personal act of the accused.
However, he said that the alleged killer was being interrogated to find out any links with any network.
The day before yesterday, in Babu Mohalla of the city, the Gurdwara caretaker, Jagannath, and his wife Asa Wanti belonging to the Sikh community were shot dead by some unidentified assailant.
