ISLAMABAD: Central Secretary General of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Mohammad Humayun Khan has strongly condemned the tragic firing incident at a gurdwara in Mardan and demanded examplary legal action against the perpetrators.
“Entering a place of worship and targeting innocent citizens is an extremely regrettable, cowardly, and intolerable act,” he said.
In his condemnation statement, Mohammad Humayun Khan said that targeting the minority community through acts of terrorism is a conspiracy against Pakistan’s peace, tolerance, and national unity.
He stated that Sikhs, Hindus, Christians, and all other minority communities are an integral part of Pakistan, and the protection of their lives and property is the state’s foremost responsibility. He said that those who violate the sanctity of places of worship do not deserve any leniency.
Such elements must be immediately brought before the law and given exemplary punishment to prevent such incidents in the future. Muhammad Humayun Khan demanded an immediate, transparent, and scientific investigation into the Mardan Gurdwara firing incident.
He said that terrorist elements want to harm Pakistan’s peace, brotherhood, and national unity, but their nefarious designs will never succeed. The Pashtun society has always been known for its traditions of peace, love, tolerance, and harmony, and such elements are, in fact, enemies of Pakistan.
Mr Khan emphasised that the state must ensure effective measures for the protection of all citizens, especially minority communities, so that every Pakistani can practice their religious beliefs and live their lives without fear.
The Central Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party expressed heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with the affected families, saying that the Pakistan Peoples Party stands with them in their grief and demands immediate and strict action against those responsible for this tragic incident.
