Drug dealer killed in Swat police raid

SWAT: A notorious drug dealer was killed during an exchange of fire with police in Swat, police officials said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Idrees son of Rasool Khan, a resident of Gul Kada, Saidu Sharif. According to police, SHO of Saidu Sharif police station along with his team, conducted a raid to arrest the suspect. Upon seeing the police party, the suspect allegedly opened fire, prompting police to retaliate in self-defence.

During the exchange of fire, the suspect sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

Police said that the deceased was wanted in 43 criminal cases including alleged involvement in drug trafficking, robbery, vehicle theft, escape from police custody and attempted murder.

Further legal proceedings have been initiated, and police officials stated that the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the district.
