Judicial tribunals

THE Punjab chief minister’s efforts for improving services have led to quality work, professionalism and coordination among various departments, which is commend-able. The government has taken multiple actions, including amendment in laws and reforms, to facilitate the common man.

This includes setting up of courts for overseas Pakistanis to expeditiously resolve their property issues, and courts for the resolution of disputes related to agricultural land.

As such, amendments to the existing legal framework and regulations, indeed, increased efficiency, reduced complexity and streamlined judicial reach. However, the Illegal Dispossession Act of 2005 was promulgated, but the Lahore High Court then granted a stay.

More than three months have elapsed, but the matter is still in a limbo. The authorities concerned should prioritise the establishment of judicial tribunals for the redressal of common man’s grievances.
