LAHORE: A member of a two-judge bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday recused himself from hearing a petition challenging the confiscation of assets of former federal minister Moonis Elahi, a son of former chief minister Parvez Elahi.
The bench headed by Justice Tariq Nadeem and comprising Justice Ali Zia Bajwa took up the petition filed by Qaisera Elahi, the mother of Moonis Elahi.
However, Justice Bajwa recused himself from the matter citing personal reasons.
At this, Justice Nadeem sent the file to the chief justice with a request to fix the petition before any other appropriate bench.
Ms Elahi had challenged the decision of an accountability court regarding seizure of her son’s assets.
The accountability court had ordered the confiscation of Moonis Elahi’s assets, after he was declared a proclaimed offender following his failure to join the proceedings against him on charges of illegal assets.
